This presentation will give an overview on selected topics of the IBM Cloud Computing Architecture and Strategy. After an introduction it will highlight some important aspects of the IBM Cloud Computing Reference Architecture (CC RA). An overview document of the CC RA can be found in the OpenGroup submission: CCRA.IBMSubmission.02282011.

Another focus area will be the discussion of the lifecycle of Cloud services in relationship to the proposed OASIS Standard Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Application (TOSCA). It will then dive into some selected topics such as Cloud Resiliency, Cloud Security, Metering and Accounting and others. The presentation will finally be concluded by the discussion of some customer examples.


Gerd Breiter is an IBM Distinguished Engineer working in the IBM Research and Development Laboratory in Boeblingen, Germany. As the Tivoli Chief Architect for Cloud Computing he is one of the key technicians defining IBM's Cloud Computing Architecture and Strategy, With more than ten years of experience in Utility-, On Demand- and Cloud Computing Gerd Breiter is one of the key experts within the industry in this new compute paradigm.
Mr. Breiter is co-leading the definition of the IBM Cloud Computing Reference Architecture (CC RA) which serves as the architectural underpinning for all the IBM private and public Cloud engagements. Other recent focus areas of his work are the standardization of the deployment and management of Cloud services through the TOSCA standard and the architecture for the buildout of Hybrid Clouds.
